Eclectic Mantra outdoor sculptures draw inspiration from aesthetic statues of old caves and temples.

Our beautiful handcrafted sculptures are made of sandstone and marble. These stones are considered good for carving and inlay work as they are soft stones, look beautiful and are easier to carve. The basic design is traced on the stone and it is given a crude shape. The final carving is then carried out and the items are polished. Some sculptures are even made from a single piece of stone with no joints.

Of Interest - Stone carving has been prevalent in India since 7th century BC. Highly impressive stone sculptures from the Indus Valley civilization - Harappa and Mohenjodaro - of torsos and dancing figures in limestone, red stone, and dark gray slate have been found. From the time of the polished sandstone lion edict of Sarnath to the present time, this craft of stone has traveled a long distance. In its course it flowered, transformed and gave expression to many styles. The rock-cut caves of Ajanta and Ellora; the Indo-Aryan temples at Bhuvaneshwar, Puri and Konark, the Sun temple of Modhera, Gujarat and the Chandella temples of Khajuraho - these ageless edifices present an endless variety of exquisite stone carvings.

where essence meets expression….come join us in this eclectic journey…..
